Terri Mitchell is an accomplished flutist, a consummate musician and educator.  She received her Doctorate in Music from the University of Miami in 2003 where she received the Award for Academic Achievement. The title of her doctoral research is “ Alternative Methods of Resolving Hand and Wrist Pain in Woodwind Players.

She is principle flutist with the Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra.  She is also on the Board of Directors of the Ars Flores Orchestra.  She is a Lecturer at the University of Miami where she teaches flute and conducts the Flute Choir. 

She is also an adjunct professor at Miami Dade College where she teaches flute lessons, Music Appreciation and Jazz and Pop.  She plays chamber music and does freelance work in the South Florida area.  She has lectured on musician's health, the subject of her doctoral research, at the University of Miami, the Florida Flute Fair and at the Third International Symposium on Musical Arts and Cognition in Brazil. 

She was awarded the SGI Renaissance Award in 2004 for her contributions to the community in the field of music. Her article "Healthy Performance" was published in "Flute Talk" magazine and her article “The Mind-Body Connection and Musician’s Health” was published in the proceedings of the conference, International Symposium on Musical Arts and Cognition. She has played with orchestras throughout the United States and Europe and has performed solos with the Ars Flores Orchestra, the Alhambra Orchestra and the University of Miami Symphony Orchestra. She is also a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, the music honor society. 

Dr. Mitchell is married with two children, ages 4 and 7.
